Lara Toselli grew up on television presenting SABC 1's YoTV for 10 years. She always loved performing and went on to study Drama at Wits University, graduating cum laude and earning the Johannesburg Dramatic and Operatic Society Prize for Musical Theatre.
In 2010 Lara featured on SABC 3's Isidingo playing Rosie Lawrence, after which she joined the South African company of Jersey Boys which toured Asia and South Africa. In 2013 Lara had the privilege of working closely with Eve Ensler (Vagina Monologues) on Emotional Creature, an activist play aiming to educate and empower girls. In 2014 Lara returned to musical theatre with the Fugard Theatre's production of Cabaret, a bucket list show for Lara, and later that year landed the larger-than-life role of Daphna Feygenbaum in Joshua Harmon's Bad Jews at The Fugard Theatre. The show played to sold out houses in Cape Town and Johannesburg and returned by popular demand in January 2017.
Lara has acted opposite some headline Hollywood stars such as Daniel Radcliffe in The Game Changers (2015) as well as Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the upcoming blockbuster The Dark Tower (2017). Besides acting, singing and dancing, Lara has also created her own comedy web series called Chin Up! which follows the life of a struggling actress. The series has gained a loyal following. For the second season Lara teamed up with award winning director Hylton Tannenbaum to create a funny and poignant show with the goal of turning it into a fully fledged TV series.
