Andrew Schär is a South African born film composer, actor, and animated voice artist. Schär was born in 1981 in Pietermaritzburg, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Musically, he is self-taught, and learned to play guitar at the age of 16. His acting career began long before that when he started professional lessons at age 8. After completing high school at Hilton College, where he won numerous awards for acting, he attended the University of Cape Town, after which, he wrote and recorded his first solo album in 2005. Amidst writing children's books, and indie-filmmaking, he began writing music for television commercials which ultimately lead him to film composing, for which he has won international awards and acclaim. His voice acting abilities have opened up a realm of possibilities for him, especially in the world of animation.
