I got my first break as one of the promo voices on the Top Travel show on SABC3 in 2007. In 2010, I recorded a series of TV commercials for Safaricom Nigeria, playing cartoonish characters who's language I had to invent to sound like a gibberish hybrid of accents. In 2013 I put together my first home studio (basically a blanket fort with a cheap mic) and began recording regularly, mostly e-learning, on-hold messaging, and also explainer videos for Old Mutual. In 2019 I got to be the Polar Bear and Rocky the Rhino for the kids cartoon ‘Jungle Beat’, which was tons of fun!
Since I moved house in 2022, I’ve had a professional booth built in my new home, and I’ve recorded everything from various versions of my natural voice, to Afrikaner mercenaries, football announcers, even Papa Smurf, to ancient evil Lich kings and gruff wizards, as well as many jobs utilising my excellent ‘David Attenborough’ impersonation.
