Nic Pretorius has 8 years experience working in both community and commercial radio and qualified with his B.A. degree in Media Production from UCT in 2007, producing the best Senior Research Project in his year. Deciding to expand further into the world of audio, Nic finished the Music Producer course at Cape Audio College, attaining a distinction for his final project.
Although most of his work is done behind the scenes, Nic can be heard from time making cameo appearances in radio adverts and promos, to reading news, traffic and sport. He has presented various shows on both community and commercial radio. Nic currently produces the Afternoon Drive show on Good Hope FM, a popular commercial regional CHR format music station. His skill in making promos and show moments come to life, coupled with strategical planning with the show’s presenter, Seano, awarded the show a nomination for “best daytime radio show” and “best afternoon drive show” in the industry prestigious MTN Radio Awards ; going head – to – head with all major commercial stations in the country – and they took home the award for best afternoon drive show in South Africa in 2014!
Nic has produced hundreds of specific radio pieces, promos and radio adverts for both community and commercial radio across the country.
Throughout his high school career Nic was involved in a classical orchestra at a nearby international award winning music school where he was taught Classical Flute and various percussion instruments. In his spare time Nic plays drums (which he admits is one of his first loves) for his local church band, enjoys “chilling” with close friends and family, loves going to the movies and can also be seen flying his drone on windless days around the beautiful city of Cape Town.
